However, several flocks live and thrive here, eating bugs, grasses and grains and roosting in trees at night. “The first time I know that the Division (of Wildlife) transplanted turkeys into this area was back in the 1940s,” said Rick Spowart, wildlife manager. The last time was about three years ago, when Spowart helped release them.
