Colorado Elk Archery Hunting? I booked a fully guided bowhunt on the Cross Mountain Ranch in northwest Colorado. It will be archery only in the middle of September. Has anyone ever hunted on this ranch? They participate in the ranching for wildlife program so i understand that it will be tough to find an elk over 300". Any info would be appreciated. Please post answers only related with my question. I dont care about public hunting and finding public land.
Public Elk Hunting in Colorado? Where is a good site to find public elk hunting in Colorado? I would like to do some elk hunting in Colorado but I don't know anyone from the state. I have failed to find any good sites on the internet that has public places to hunt, also information about camp sites in the area. Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks
Best places to archery elk hunt in Colorado? I am looking to take several father son combos elk hunting. I am looking for elk dense area where I might get these newbies into elk and give them a great experience hunting elk with archery equipment. This is a meat area rather than a trophy hunt. Thanks

I live in Colorado so i hunt Elk and Deer and some Pronghorn the question i have is why rifle to buy.? I need to purchase a rifle for hunting season and i am not sure what gun or caliber to shoot there are so many choices so just trying to see what others think. Why Because i ask this question does everyone think i am a n00b to hunting/shooting i just hear different things from everyone that i know like go 7mm WSM, go 30-06, 25-06, 270, 270 WSM, Now with Ammo like the LeveRevolution make Guns like the 45/70 444 Marlin and 450 Marlin become options for range and Knock Down Power. I just wanted to find out what people thought and i appreciate the info so it looks like 30-06 is most peoples choice and for that i thank you. FYI i shoot a 30-30 Marlin Lever Action i shoot 150 Grain Standard Ammo for target and for Hunting i shoot 160 Grain LeveRevolution Thanks again.
Where in colorado is a good place to hunt for elk? I just moved here and there are a lot of places that seem o.k. but if someone could please tell me more specific spots, hopefully within a 200 mile radius of Denver.....Would be AWESOME. Thanks for your help
Ways to Reduce Noise from Rifle Stock? I use a Browning 7mm Remington Mag out in Colorado on elk hunts. It has a stainless steel barrel and a fiberglass stock. I get really upset when a branch or my binoculars hit the stock and make noise. I would imagine the glare off the barrel would alert wildlife of my presence as well. I want something to put on the barrel and stock that will reduce glare and noise. Whatever the product is, it needs to be lightweight, will not build up moisture between itself and the gun, and can be removed easily. Anyone know of a product that fits my description?
Scent Cover? Which is the best scent eleminator product line? Specificly for hunting elk in Colorado.
Nikon BuckMasters versus Leupold Rifleman 3-9x40? I'm debating between a BuckMasters 3-9x40 and a Rifleman 3-9x40. When looking at them in Walmart today, the Nikon was definately clearer, however they wouldn't dim the lights so I could see them in low light :). On paper, the Nikon has a 4% higher light transmission, however has anybody tried them side by side in low light, and what were the results? I know Nikon versus Leupold is Ford Versus Chevy, Savage Versus Remington all over, I'm really hoping to hear some real world tests. I'll be hunting Elk in southern Colorado.. also has anybody tried a 40MM versus 50MM, and really felt the extra light gain was an advantage? Since we cannot night hunt, don't want to spend the extra $$ if it's not really going to help me.
If I asked a guy on a vacation...? ...to Colorado with either my parents or just me, not for sure of the exact date, but he said "let me know...I would like to go elk hunting someday.." well I'm too familiar with the hunting season especially in Colorado, so I told him to let me know when a good time for that would be. But he hasn't gotten back to me about it. Was that a stupid question I asked? Is the ball in his court now? Should I just wait to hear back from him? What does he mean & what should I do? FYI-This guy is a good friend of mine (casually dated)
He wrote me this email after I told him my feelings...but I'm confused? Long story short, this guy & I had a casual relationship for over a year, but just moved away for family reasons. I wrote him an email telling him my feelings.. that I cared for him & that I'd always be there for him if he needed me & also invited him to Colorado (we never really went on trips together) Not in a sappy way but in a nice happy way. He's the type that has that hard shell emotionally, tough guy kinda attitude. So after this email should I just be patient with him? Here is the email: Hey Girl, Sorry that I haven't got back w/ u sooner. I have been so busy getting aclimated to the new town. Thanks for the email, it was nice to hear from you:) Hey, if you ever go out to Colorado, let me know.... I would like to go out there elk hunting some day. It snowed here last night, can you believe it? It wasn't much but enought to cover the windows of the car. Anyway, I have to get going...got an appt. work is going great, better than expected! we weren't officially bf/gf, but we always had mixed feelings. But like I said, it's not easy for him to show his emotions, partly because of past relationships even with his family.
Where should I go hunting? I was thinking elk, sheep, some big game something like that. So Colorado, Montana, what? any certain places you recommend?
Did you get anything?? I was wondering if anybody in Colorado had got an Elk this Rifle season. I got my very first elk on my very first rifle hunt!!! My Grandpa had shot a bull and about 30 seconds later as he was heading to his elk he seen a bear and killed it!!!! Then about 2min. after he shot his kill, my Dad and I shot the cow and calf(i got the calf) that had been with the bull. So we filled 4 tags by 8:30 opening morning!! The Next day my uncle shot a calf. We were so blessed! The day after we got home we butchered the elk and bear. Lets just say that we have a TON of meat now. I wold like to hear all of every body elses stories. We were hunting in Pagosa Springs.
Attention all hunters!:I need your help/info!? I need to know some information, to pass along to a guy friend of mine that wants to hunt in Colorado this fall. I need to know what the non-resident fees are, for deer, mule deer or elk. Also, where are places that he can hunt around the Leadville/Aspen area? Any ranges that you know of? And lastly, would he have to be put into a drawing, regarding the license? How long does that take? So...what is the best option if he wants to hunt there this coming fall? Please let me know, I need to tell him soon! Thank you!! p.s. does anyone know of any hunters out in Colorado that could help?
Should hunting boots be tight with little wiggle room for hunting on rough terrain? I recently bought some boots and am trying to decide to return them and go with a wider size. I am elk hunting in colorado and am worried that I do not have any room in my boots to move my toes. I will be hiking some rough terrain. Should my boots be like a cocoon around my feet or should I have at least a little moving room in there?
Question about my record and employment? Fall of 2005 I was heading out of Denver International Airport towards Atlanta International Airport, my grandmother was dying and I was going to go see her in Atlanta with my mother. It was hunting season and I had a large blade meant for gutting an elk in my back pack when I went hunting in northern Colorado. I went hunting in October, and then traveled in November, and I forgot the blade was in my backpack, and I used the same back pack as a carry on for frontier airlines. I forgot it was in my backpack, I thought I had gotten it out but I did not, so the TSA people found the blade in an x-ray scan and asked me and my mother a bunch of questions. Then they let us on our way without penalty and we got on our original flight, there was no court date and a TSA officer returned the knife to us when we came back from Atlanta a week later. So my question is will this incident be on my records? If so, will it effect my chances for employment in the future? I was about to turn fourteen when the incident happened, and now I am almost sixteen and entering my sophomore year of high school. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks. :-) Or no, fall of 2006. Typo!

Hunting guides....please help!? ok well, its getting to the time in my life where i have o start thinking of what i want to do for a living. and so i've thought about it, and i always find myself coming back to the idea of being a hunting guide in colorado. i've lived in colorado my entire life, (never once lived in the city, and when i go there for groceries, i always find myself wanting nothing more than to come back to the wilderness) i enjoy being outside more than anything, i also enjoy hunting very much. (i dont mean to brag, but this my help my answers) i am very fit athletic have lots of energy, but am calm polite down to earth and not shy around people. i recently found this websight anbout becoming a hunting guide in colorado, i think its like a class to get you started. its located near a small town called cripple creek, which i live close to and am familier with, so thats good. so i guess my question is, i want to be a hunting guide in colorado, how do i get started, (kind of a unusual question i know but..) about how much money do guides in colorado make. what is a good outfitter that i can try to work for, or would it be better to make my own company? here is the link i was telling you about. http://www.guideschool.com/ and also my grandpa and grandmother live just down the road from me, and they have a HUGE area of beautiful land that i know better than the back of my hand that is packed with elk and deer. would that be any help? please no rude comments, only helpful answeres! thank you. and my grandpa also has a bunch of horses that i grew up around so i am a good rider too. the reason i said that was i though that some guided hunts are on horseback. also i am a decent cook, and have a pretty good sense of wildewrness survival.
