Biting Basenji pup? Well I just got a new Basenji she is 10 weeks old and she bites all the time. She has been biting ever since we got her.(Aound 2 weeks) What we have been trying to do is when she bites stop her and give her a toy. She bites the toy for a while and goes back to biting us. We think the Biting has to do with th fact she is an African Hunting dog. She is a pure breed. So please we need help with stoping her from biting. Answers are greatly appreciated.
Killing animals in the name of sport: Kentucky Derby vs. Dog Fighting...? Gambeling and using animals for sport has been around for a very long time. Different cultures have access to and utilize different animals for game. Hunting, fishing, cock fighting, dog fighting, horse racing, etc. In all of these, it is normal for an animal to be injured or die. Why do we stand by and permit wealthy Caucasian's to race horses to the point their legs break and "must" be killed since no more money can be made from of them, and yet we convict Michael Vick to prison for his involvment in dog fighting, a commonplace sport for many? I believe there is no denying that when weathly Caucasians kill the animal it is "necessary" and horse racing is considered a sophisticated sport (because it is one they partake in), yet because lower class and often African-Americans indulge in dog fighting it is somehow more brutal and distasteful; punishable by jail time. I am against ALL animal cruelty, but this is injustice, how can we sit by an allow this to continue? Miyuki you miss my point. My concern is the double standard that when one group of people does something it is ok, but when another does it is a crime. This is an injustice to humans, overshadowed by brutality to animals. Trent, I am aware of the fact that people of all races partake in each sport, I am more concerned with the way that the media portrays these things and handeled Michael Vick's image, demonizing him and making him take the fall. I love the dialogue and it is ok to disagree, at least we are thinking... I am one of those people that believe race has to do with EVERYTHING in this country, but so does social class. Let's face it, our society is capitalist and built on racism, it is ingrained into all our institutions. can any brute creature kill and hate like human? look at african countries, middle east, WWII, Vietnam, shishan and many many more since the creation of human being. humans, are the most blood thirsty and brute creature ever. lions kill other species for food only. wolfs, are the same, except they may kill a wounded wolf, they kill it for food!! (they have a reason) human, kills other speicies to make clothes and statues, some times to have fun (hunting). kills their own species without reason, maybe for power, domenation, hate, and they are damn good at it. does human brain carry all that hate? what a shame. i wander why dogs still hanging around with us :)

Seeking name of this gigantic dog! Please Help!? My boyfriend and I went to a picnic a few weeks ago, we discovered this gigantic dog and has asked the owner what kind of dog it was. He said something with African---------. He told us that it supposedly hunts lions? Its HUGE and has fur that comes down its side like a sheepdog sorta. Its fur is straight NOT curly. It was black, grey, and a little bit of white. We need to know what kind of dog it was, my boyfriend wants one really bad. Did you watch Dog the Bounty Hunter last night? How do you feel about the way they slid into the season? Dog upset about Mexico? Not sure if he can go back to hunting because of THAT? I already know the climax but I am stuck with the ending. 1. Kid is sleeping in broken down car and it starts raining and he and his dog drink and they're all happy 2. Small plane or heli or truck comes and finds the kid but it's sad cuz he leaves the dog behind That is, if the dog doesn't already die before that. Help Finding a Movie -Horror/Thriller? Okay, I saw this movie about fourteen years ago. The movie itself was probably made somewhere in the 80's (maybe late 70's or early 90's)-judging from the music and clothes. I remember a girl (maybe even several kids) incarcerated in the basement of a huge house and a small African-American boy trying to rescue her. The antagonists are an odd couple (a man and a woman) who appear "conservative" and somewhat normal, but of course they have these kids locked-up in their basement. Also, they dress up in leather (late at night) and own a big black dog, which is killed toward the end of the movie. There was a lot of suspense-the kid(s) try to escape from the house but the man of the house tries to "hunt" them down before they leave. The house seems to be heavily fortified. The music sounds a bit like Michael Jackson's "Thriller." Lastly, there is a scene I remember in which one of the kids makes it to the attic. Once there a big black dog starts to chase him. While this happens the man accidently kills the dog believing he was stabbing the kid. Please help me find the title of this movie!

HELP PLEASE :]? ok. guys some help is needed :] i have an analytical writting essay due and i need some help on my conclusion :] The relationships between characters within the following texts, “The Man who Laughs at Lions” by Bryce Walton and Joanne Harris who wrote “Faith and Hope go Shopping”, undoubtedly express a fluent theme of respect. Walton utilises the analytical tools of the genre such as plot, setting and values of the main character; Frank McClinton, a hunter whose respect, for the African jungle, or lack of, is non existent. Harris; however, illustrates the theme of respect between the two characters; Hope and Faith as a strong bond that helps two elderly ladies escape from the chains of a nursing home into the “real world”. Both stories convey a clear theme that encompasses the issue of different respect between characters in an unlike and original way. In the first place, the issue of respect, or lack of, is evidently shown through out the text; The Man who laughs at lions, as the main character; Frank McClinton, is introduced as a malicious and dominating hunter who has no respect for his surroundings, only himself and his wall of trophies. ‘He never gave a damn for anything but himself, his own power, his own glory.’ [Walton, 1982, Pg76]Through out the text, the obscene relationship between McClinton and the African Jungle can be described as man showing no respect, whatsoever, to beast. This is clearly shown as McClinton ventures into the wild with two guides; Mr Vanderveer and Gombi. ‘He hardly looked back or paused for a picture. He kept pushing and killing and leaving the carcasses black and fly-brown in the sun.’ [Walton, 1982, Pg77] This quote exactly describes the lack of respect, man shows to beast, opposed to the relationship beast shows to man. The issue of respect that beast shows to man is at first non existent but then more of, a lack of, as the hell dogs get revenge. Through out the short story, by Harris, the African jungle does not have any chance to show Frank McClinton any respect due to the conspicuous feelings Frank has to the jungle. “Our safari hardly stopped for breath from that time until the disastrous finale. McClinton had incredible endurance fortified by a mad obsession for killing” [Walton, 1982, Pg77] At the end of the Text; The Man who laughs at Lions, the jungle finally gets its revenge as the hell dogs perpetuate the hunt for McClinton. ‘His clothes flew behind him in tatters. His body was a smear of mud formed of dust, sweat and blood’ [Walton, 1982, Pg81] Leaving Mr McClinton with no respect, at all, for the jungle which led to the hell dogs leaving him with physical and mental scars. “You know, he got rid of all his hunting dogs. He stays away from dogs, but I never thought- and there was that funny business in Mexico. We were in a little café. Some dogs came in and went among the tables feeding on bits of shrimp and fish. Frank moved back. He turned pale. He backed clear to the door and ran out and kept running” [Walton, 1982, Pg82] McClinton was a brute coward who throughout the text, showed no respect for his surroundings. In contrast, respect among the characters Faith and Hope is warm and full hearted. “Hope pushes me around in my chair, and I direct her” [Harris, 2004, Pg2] Not only do they live day by day next to each other, but they fervently talk, gossip and bicker about the surrounding backdrop of the ever so mundane nursing home. “I’m not saying it’s a bad place here. It’s just so ordinary not the comfortable ordinariness of home, with its familiar grime and clutter, but that of waiting-rooms and hospitals, a pastel detergent place with a smell of air fresheners and distant bedpans.” [Harris, 2004, Pg2] Faith and Hope share a strong and respectful bond as two friends, that helps two elderly ladies escape into the real world and live by rules of the older generation. At the humdrum nursing home, the relationships between the staff and Hope and Faith can be related to that of a Younger generation to an older generation. “There aren’t many books here, but the library van comes around every four weeks, and we send Lucy out to get us something nice. Lucy’s a college student on Work Experience, so she knows what to choose. Hope was furious when she wouldn’t let us have Lolita, though. Lucy thought it wouldn’t suit us.” [Harris, 2004, Pg3] As the storyline, begins within the text, it is easy to tell that Hope and Faith are not exactly the favourites with either the staff or surrounding guest members. “They get that look- even the brighter ones- that nursery-nurse smile which says I know better. I know better because you’re old.” [Joanne Harris, 2004, Pg3] The lack of respect between the relationship of the staff and patients that epitomises young and old, not only enables the couple to escape but it gives Faith and Hope a chance to abide by their own rules, not the rules of the younger generation.
