Hunting for food?
I live in the southern part of the states where guns and hunting are a way of life for many here....not for survival .but, for sport and they enjoy Venison, wild turkey and there are many organizations that give meat to the poor.
I have lived in the Northwest and it was completely different....Very anti hunting and guns.
I was just wondering what the general consensus was regarding hunting in your area of the States and other countries.
I put this in the food area because I think it relates to additudes about food and the only other option was the hunting section...and I rather doubt Id get varied opinions there..

2. I live in Texas, and I go every year. This year: I shot a little eight point just after Thanksgiving. I limited out the first three days of dove season, and I went duck hunting, but I couldn't hit a damned thing.
3. whatever is legal!
4. Originally from West Virginia now in South Carolina I have hunted all my life and see nothing wrong with it.
If you eat meat in a restaurant or from a grocery store at one time the animal was alive and had to be killed before processing, what is the difference.
5. hey i am the butcher, now that about saya it all dear ! nice to meet ya home girl ! butcher....
6. I am from Wisconsin....and most people here believe in hunting.... and eating what they kill and donating to food banks. They let 12 year olds get hunting licenses here.
7. I live in Washington and grew up hunting. Shoot and clean my own deer. I do it for food, not for sport. I love elk hunting and have had my own share of people ragging on me about it. I think it is completely unfair that they attack us. Some people shoot animals for something that is unacceptable, but, I know what I am doing and have no desire to be attacked or see other people attacked for the same thing.
8. I live in Northern Ohio.
I grew up with a firearm in my hands, and believe hunting is a privelege. Hunting for trophies (big rack, etc...) in absoloutely NO WAY represents the entegrity of a REAL sportsman. I know several idiots who will kill a buck and cant even stomach the taste of vension (but they got that trophey). I believe the skills and integrity of being a true outdoorsman is not represented on the wall, but are shown by killing for food and providing for themselves and their families!
9. Nope im from jersey and dont shoot nothing that cant shoot back......people dont hunt for food anymore hardly, they shoot animals just too kill them i think its ashame, hunting is for whimps, if something cant shoot back then why even shoot at it, anybody can go in the woods and shoot animals but why do you want too..... oh cool i just shot bambi im so cool yay yay .... not....... animals are cool, people are deadly.......
10. Illinois here...hubby, sons, and grandsons go hunting often...lots of good food! Sure helps out with the food budget...
11. Hi Natalie,
Well here in England it is not so easy to own a gun.
Though obviously people do and enjoy the hunting.
Certainly, I have friends that go out at weekends to shoot and bring back rabbit, pheasant etc.
I love Venison but don't come by it very often.
We alos have a friend that fishes so can sometimes get nice fresh fish or even crab.
12. G'day Natalie,
I am from Australia and live out in the country area of Queensland. We hunt here for Venison, Rabbit and even Kangaroo, and it's on our national emblem! Roo steaks are great... Keep on hunting, all is good! Beef is a very popular meat, but not really hunted as such.
13. I live in Las Vegas, and although there are many hunters here. I think most people are too lazy to hunt and want to shoot something from their pickup truck.
